About
A Scholar on Movement on the Move, Achariya Nate-Chei is currently an assistant professor at Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Naresuan University, Thailand and holds a Ph.D. candidate in Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. During her Ph.D. research in White Tai ethnic tourism communities in Vietnam, Achariya has devoted her soul and mind for witnessing villagers’ strong willingness to achieve a sound and prosper future on their own hands under global forces. Long before that departure, Achariya with special interest in the area of sociology of market, ethnic tourism, and cultural economy is always eager to see the villagers in Thailand and Vietnam in particular and wherever to contest and take an important role over local market, in the sense that local people are not the victim of globalized commodification process. All the time, she has been working with her intention as a scholar for the marginalized people, as well as gives highly respect for liberty, social justice, and democracy throughout her academic life.
